A database administrator (DBA) is responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrading, administration, monitoring, maintenance, and security of databases in an organisation.

NZ Diploma in Database Administration (Level 6) (More info at NZQA)
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
Bachelor of Commerce in Information Systems (or equiv Info Science, Info Mngmt)
